2011 wool harvest is here!

What an exciting moment yesterday when Dean came home with our entire wool harvest from the mill! The whole front room of our house is full of roving and stuffing!  There are six beautiful natural colors, three different browns, (one of them makes me need a piece of chocolate), a jacob white, a hog island white, and a lilac.  If you are looking for some great yarn, or roving contact us now, you have a great selection to choose from. I can't wait to start spinning the lilac.  So... In the middle of the table you can see a basket with a Knitters share in it.  Six skeins of handspun wool, in 3 different natural colors, and one skein of carmel colored alpaca, spun with red glitz thread. On this side of the booth, one of our earache soother pillows and behind that some of the knit hats.  I am wearing one of our cowls, they come in the Family share

Soft Organic Baby Doll

I will have a booth at the first, First Friday of the season, in downtown Binghamton on April 1,2. I have been spinning, sewing, knitting and I even made a banner so that you can find me better!  I can't wait to go get my tent and my table, it's something I am really looking forward to.  Here are two of the little dolls we made for the weekend.  They are pocket babies and they have rice in the bottom, stuffed with our wool, and the little hats are just right to snuggle them close, or to send them up  in the air with, for a toss!  The bigger baby is the Jewel baby doll, she is a gypsy and she is also stuffed with our wool.  Her soft skin is organic silk and cotton blend.

Saturday we will be at the Boynton Middle School, in Ithaca, for a CSA fair.  I have a feeling that we will be the only fiber CSA there.  So just look for yarn!  I am bringing a sample share basket and also some of the cute hats that Lesley knits for the farm.  I will have a sign up sheet and will be accepting farm-share payments for our spring share.  Speaking of that, the spring share is almost ready, we got the call from  the mill just the other day.Hopefully we will see it in the next few weeks!

What a range of natural colors! There is only one that came out of a dye-pot.  We have lots of space in our CSA, and we are expecting our fiber back from Fingerlakes Woolen Mill very soon!  You can come out for a visit and watch your yarn spun, or take a knitting class!  Give us a call, 607.659.5630

Today

Today we, unloaded hay,

 fed bunnies, (and lots of other animals),

And took pictures of the gypsey cart in the snow. Isn't it cute in the snow?

Also carded two alpaca fleeces.  How does carmel cria sound?  It's so soft. and the other one was white, soft pure white like the snow.  Carder broke down, waiting to finish.  This is the life on our farm.

Handraised, handspun, hand-dyed, and handworked.  With the fiber processed from Fingerlakes Fiber Mill.  And please meet Lesley, who designs the hats and crochets them herself, she is also a shepherd, with a flock of Icelandic on her little homestead a few miles away from our farm.
